How to get an A on paper #1

Ideas from Jenn Daniels and Denise Studach:

--> Put time in
--> Pick the experience you will be writing about
--> Follow professor's guidelines: SIGNIFICANT LEARNING EXPERIENCE
--> Use models from related texts
--> Use as MUCH vivid detail as possible
--> Think of your experience as a journey you've taken
--> Consider what type of message you want to send to your readers
--> Make sure to follow the rules of Standard English - see textbook for help
--> Find a way to connect to your readers (audience)
--> Watch your tone - keep away from monotonous writing
--> Make sure it is 1,200-1,500 words
--> Details details details - explain your topic thoroughly
--> Use MLA format to demonstrate college-level writing skills
--> Make sure your name/date/title are in the right place
--> Have others read your paper & check for errors, improvement, etc.
--> Read your paper aloud to yourself - it helps you hear the way your paper sounds to others
--> Use visual aids (pictures, graphs, charts, etc.) to get your point across (if applicable)
--> Do as many revisions as possible - rough drafts are your friend :)
